FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why custom music?
Indiviudually produced music is fluent throughout the complete film. The music forms around the images and under the dialogue or voice over, your target audience always in mind. When you decide for custom music, you just can give away the time consuming task of finding a suitable track, and avoid all problems involved with fitting an existing piece to your work. No hard cuts, no alternating pieces of music fading in and out. Of course this comes at a certain price - if you are at a tough budget I can offer a large collection of production music which also can be customized to your demands.
Exclusive Licencing
Production music can sometimes cause awkward effects when customers who have heard the same piece in another clip watch your film. If you are an exclusive company you can´t afford this to happen.
Though I have a view pieces which can be licenced exclusively, all other pieces in my library can only be licenced non-exclusively. So, if you need an exclusive licence, custom produced music is the best way to get it.
Is it worth the extra cost?
When you hire me for producing custom music, you will have to carry the whole production effort.
Of course this is more expensive than taking stock music because there the production effort of the composer is distributed to (in the best case) many licence takers. But you will definitively safe the time you would have to spend on searching fitting music and getting it adjusted to your project.

If you are on a small budget I offer to give you full service but without exclusive rights to the music. That means, after an appointed period I will monetarize the music as production music in my library if it is suitable for that.
Another solution could be taking a piece of music from my library and adjust that to your demands. This is a special service I offer, you wont find easily somewhere else. I will do this at an hourly basis. If you are interested in that, visit my licence page for more information or just contact me.
THE PROCESS OF MAKING CUSTOM MUSIC
Making music is my passion and I am happy to offer my knowledge and experience. Just contact me and let´s talk about your project. Afterwards, I will provide you with various layouts. If one of it (or a combination) fits your premise I will get to detailled work and fit the music perfectly to your film.
Most of the time, I use software instruments which permit changes with minimal effort compaired to recorded instruments. So, I will easily fit the music to a new cut again. One re-cut is inclusive. Further changes will be done on an hourly basis.
STYLISTIC SCOPE
As a composer I make it a sport to cover as large a field of music as possible. I can cover a large variety of styles for a diverse target audience.

Orchestral music is the traditional tool of a film music composer. The might and elegance of a large body of sound evokes unchallenged emotions. For decades, this was and still is the most sought after instrumentation for film projects.
With a bunch of orchestral libraries, I cover most of the characteristics of this genre - convincing and editable until the final cut.

As a contemporary composer, I also master various modern styles such as pop, rock and electronica (edm). These styles are frequently asked for to transport messages and emotions to a variety of target audiences. I actually started with producing electronic music, so this is my home range.

Modern software and instrument libraries provide unprecedented opportunities for media composers. Real drum sets, guitars of all kinds, bass, percussions, organs etc. - pop and rock are just part of the repertoire of a modern media composer. Of course there are some limits. I cannot simulate a raging punk band in my computer, or a virtuous pianist or a wild Paganini performance. Nevertheless, for most purposes rock out of the box is suitable. Moreover, as with a virtual orchestra, virtual rock music and pop can be edited with full flexibility until the final cut of a movie, while recorded pieces can only be changed in a limited way.

It becomes even rore interesting when different styles are combined. Rock and pop with orchestra or dubstep with rock elements. Anything is possible. Actually, hybrid orchestra (orchestra with electronic sounds) and dubstep with orchestra are some of my specialities and licencing best sellers.
DIFFERENT FORMATS
Image film
This is the format I am most specialised in. I understand image films as a unique form of art and love the format concerning the production of music.
An image film is just long enough to establish an arc of suspence and create a musical theme to pull out all the big emotions you need to get your message supported.
What you will not get from me is sterotyped "image film" music, as cheaply produced background music is often (wrongly) called. An image film has to present a matter in the best possible light, so you need to have the most convincing and significant music possible. I can help you with custom high-quality music, scored to your pictures with your message, your customers and the dramaturgy in mind.

To bring a musical theme down to some seconds in an ad clip is one of the most challenging tasks of a composer. The emotions have to be there from the first second.
feature film
Regrettably I cannot exhibit my feature film music projects here because the rights are restricted. However, if you are interested in feature film scoring I will give you some private links to the projects I participated in.
To be honest, there aren´t many since I specialised in making music for commercial films to earn a living. But you may convince yourself about my abilities by watching some of my semi-feature-like projects like "Visions of the arctic" or "NIKON - Chasing the light" and some others you can find in my portfolio.

I bring all the skills to join in your team - not only the ability to create compelling music but also real production expirience at the set, many feature films I attended as sound designer and many conversations with directors and producers.
It goes without saying that I will put all I have in making music for your feature film since that is the actual goal of any composer.

Trailers are some challange I really strive for. Concentrated emotion, tension and this epic feeling is just what moves me. Also, the combination of music and sounddesign is a compelling task.

product and explain films
Here, the music has a different task than at most other formats. Not only has it to put the product or subject in the best possible light like e.g. with image films but it has to support the spoken text to be better understood and to keep the tension throughout the whole film. It can underline important aspects and separate different chapters.
Without fitting music, after two minutes at most the recipient will shut down. Music can help hold the attention.
In my oppinion, music for longer explain or product films should always be produced individually to the film. Stock music can´t be bend so much as to fullfil the obove mentioned functions of the music.
